Position:                               Chief Accounting and Treasury Officer

Supervises:                        Accounting Officers, Accounts Analysts, Junior Accounts Analysts

DESCRIPTION

Provides support to the Financial Controller in the areas of accounting, audit, treasury, compliance and reporting functions. This individual is also responsible for overseeing cash management, capital structure, risk management and banking relationships.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Completed ACCA Professional Level with a minimum of five (5) years accounting  experience
• Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent
• At least three (3) years of supervisory or lead experience
• Experience with reporting to regulators

 CORE FUNCTIONS

• Preparation of monthly journal entries for assigned companies;
• Preparation of monthly financial statements and other accounting related reports for assigned companies;
• Develop and implement treasury policies, procedures, and strategies to optimize cash flow and manage liquidity.
• Manage the company’s capital structure, including debt and equity financing, in alignment with business objectives.
• Supervise the company's cash management functions, including forecasting, wire transfers, and reconciliation.
• Provides support and co-ordination to external auditors during external audits;
• Checking and approving journal entries submitted by the accounting team;
• Analysis of general ledger accounts for assigned companies on a monthly basis;
• Monthly review of general ledger accounts prepared by the accounting staff;
• Preparation of bank reconciliations on a timely basis;
• Review and approve bank reconciliations prepared by the accounting staff and ensure reconciliations are prepared on a timely basis;
• Assist with the placement, reinvestment and encashment of investments;
• Preparation of quarterly consolidated and standalone financial statements, along with accompanying schedules, for submission to the Financial Controller for review;
• Preparation of quarterly financial statements for submission to regulators;

   RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides financial and regulatory accounting support to the leadership of the Finance Department.
• Supervises the accounting staff in achieving departmental goals and meeting reporting deadlines for monthly, quarterly and annual activities.
