The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and recording the financial resources of the Corporation, while ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial and management reports.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare monthly in-house financial reports and annual audited financial statements
Develop and manage annual and revised budgets, including financial projections (cash flow and balance sheet)
Present financial reports to Boards, Committees, subsidiaries, Government agencies, lenders, and other stakeholders in accordance with reporting timelines
Ensure financial reporting practices, records, and accountability meet all regulatory, statutory, and compliance requirements
Develop and implement financial systems, policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions
Oversee revenue billing and collection processes to ensure adherence to credit terms
Ensure timely payment of suppliers, statutory obligations, salaries, and employee benefits
Monitor investments and manage operating cash flow to maximize returns and ensure liquidity
Manage loan portfolio, ensuring timely repayments and compliance with loan agreements
Continuously improve accounting systems, processes, and internal controls to safeguard assets
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong ability to prepare financial statements and management reports
Sound knowledge of budgeting, financial systems, and accounting practices
Proficiency in computerized financial management systems
Advanced competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Excellent financial analysis and problem-solving skills
Strong administrative and decision-making capabilities
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
Strong organizational, leadership, planning, and time management skills
Ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams effectively
Qualifications and Experience
First Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
ACCA Professional Level or equivalent qualification would be an asset
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Financial Accountant in a public or private sector organization
