Chief Accountant

Jamaica's leading Manufacturing and Distrubution company seeks to hire a Chief Accountant, with responsibility for overseeing the organization’s accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, among other duties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Oversee the day-to-day operations and procedures of the Accounts department ensuring adherence to generally accepted accounting principles and other regulatory bodies
• Oversee the preparation for internal and external audits; review schedules and reports and ensure queries and recommendations from internal and external auditors are promptly and appropriately addressed
• Employ strategies that foster a culture of excellence, teamwork and open communication within the department
• Prepare and issue timely, accurate monthly, quarterly and annual Financial Statements
• Ensure that all accounting records are maintained according to established guidelines and adequate system of controls are instituted to minimize fraud and impropriety
• Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
• Ensure timely filing of returns and submission of Direct Funds Transfer Payment Advice for General Consumption Tax (GCT), Special Consumption Tax (SCT), Statutory Payroll Taxes, Environmental Protection Levy (EPL), Contractor Levy (CL), Corporation, Withholding and any other tax payments as they fall due
