Chief Accountant

Now Hiring: Chief Accountant (Temporary, 3-Month Contract – Possible Extension)
Location: Kingston, Jamaica

A leading financial advisory and equity brokerage firm is seeking a highly competent and detail-oriented Chief Accountant to support financial operations on a temporary basis. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, managing audits, and contributing to an ongoing ERP implementation project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/GAAP.
  • Supervise and review general ledger entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
  • Reconcile sub-ledgers related to investments, loans, and equity instruments.
  • Support departmental revenue analysis, overhead allocation, and board reporting.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and manage suspense and clearing accounts.
  • Ensure timely filing and payment of taxes, including GCT, payroll, asset, income, and withholding taxes.
  • Provide functional support for ERP implementation, particularly in financial data migration and validation.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to financial processes and internal controls.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Management Studies.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior accounting role, preferably within the financial services sector.
  • ACCA Level III or equivalent qualification (completed or in progress).
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and Jamaican regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Project finance and ERP implementation experience is an asset.
