JOB SUMMARY

The Chief Accountant will be responsible for all financial and management accounting activities inclusive of preparing financial and performance reports, assisting with annual budgets, forecasting and reviews with the Standards and Levels required by the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, International Financial Reporting Standards and IAS.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Preparation of monthly financial statements in the prescribed formats to include explanation for significant variances from budget.
2. Timely and Accurate Financial Reporting - reports include Income Statements, Balance sheets, Cashflows, Fundings, Forecast and operating and Financial Metrics.
3. Responsible for the external audit of the company’s accounts.
4. Provide any assistance necessary to the internal auditors.
5. Prepare monthly profit projections and periodic cash flow projections.
6. Coordinate the budget activities for the company and prepare the budgeted financial statements.
7. Monitor all activities at the production location which have an impact on the financial statements, emphasis being placed on materials management and customer ordering and invoicing.
8. Monitor the cost associated with capital projects to ensure that expenditure is within budget and that assets are capitalized as soon as they are completed.
9. Ensure that the fixed assets register is updated on a timely basis for assets acquired or disposed of and to ensure that balances agree with the general ledger.
10. Ensure that the correct depreciation is charged on these assets.
11. Ensure that suppliers are paid on time and that all liability for goods and services received are correctly reflected in the company’s accounts.
12. Ensure that all taxes are filed and paid on time especially General Consumption Tax.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting  or ACCA Level 3
• At least three (3) years’ experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience at a management or supervisory level.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

• Ability to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Good analytic skills
• Good knowledge of accounting standards governing the preparation of Financial Statements
