Chef
A vibrant Jamaican restaurant in Philadelphia is seeking a talented and passionate Chef to lead its kitchen operations and deliver authentic, high-quality Jamaican cuisine. The ideal candidate will have strong culinary skills, excellent leadership abilities, and a genuine appreciation for Caribbean flavours, culture, and food presentation.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and prepare authentic Jamaican dishes, ensuring consistency in taste, quality, and presentation.
Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
Manage kitchen inventory, food ordering, and portion control to minimize waste and control food costs.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation in accordance with U.S. health regulations.
Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure efficiency and teamwork.
Develop and introduce creative menu items and seasonal specials aligned with the restaurant’s brand.
Work collaboratively with management to support excellent customer service and overall restaurant performance.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in Caribbean or Jamaican cuisine.
Strong knowledge of traditional Jamaican dishes, spices, and cooking methods.
Understanding of U.S. food safety and kitchen compliance standards.
Excellent leadership, teamwork, and time-management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Strong passion for culinary excellence and hospitality.
Desirable Attributes
Formal culinary training or certification (an asset but not mandatory).
Experience working in a restaurant in the U.S. or international culinary environment.
