A vibrant Jamaican restaurant in Philadelphia is seeking a talented and passionate Chef to lead its kitchen operations and deliver authentic, high-quality Jamaican cuisine. The ideal candidate will have strong culinary skills, excellent leadership abilities, and a genuine appreciation for Caribbean flavours, culture, and food presentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare authentic Jamaican dishes, ensuring consistency in taste, quality, and presentation.

  • Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.

  • Manage kitchen inventory, food ordering, and portion control to minimize waste and control food costs.

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation in accordance with U.S. health regulations.

  • Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure efficiency and teamwork.

  • Develop and introduce creative menu items and seasonal specials aligned with the restaurant’s brand.

  • Work collaboratively with management to support excellent customer service and overall restaurant performance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in Caribbean or Jamaican cuisine.

  • Strong knowledge of traditional Jamaican dishes, spices, and cooking methods.

  • Understanding of U.S. food safety and kitchen compliance standards.

  • Excellent leadership, teamwork, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

  • Strong passion for culinary excellence and hospitality.

Desirable Attributes

  • Formal culinary training or certification (an asset but not mandatory).

  • Experience working in a restaurant in the U.S. or international culinary environment.

  • Creativity and willingness to contribute to menu development and innovation.
