Our client, with 2 Cafe location in Kingston is seeking to fill the position of Head Chef.

A catering company based in Kingston, Jamaica, is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our culinary team. We specialize in delivering exceptional local cuisine for various events, and we are looking for a dedicated professional who can uphold our high standards of quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation and production of food, setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Prepare and cook high-quality dishes according to our recipes and standards
  • Help maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen
  • Oversee and train the kitchen staff, ensuring consistent quality and efficiency in food preparation.
  • Collaborate with the manager and clients to customize menus based on specific requirements and preferences.
  • Implement cost control measures to minimize waste and optimize inventory.
  • Stay updated with the latest culinary trends and techniques, particularly in Jamaican cuisine, to innovate and improve our offerings.

Requirements:

  • Certificate in Chef De Partie Level 3 or Commercial Food Preparation Level 2 Certificate or higher from HEART or its equivalent.
  • Proven expertise in Jamaican cuisine, with a deep understanding of traditional ingredients, flavors, and cooking techniques.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role within a professional kitchen.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings, as required by event schedules.
  • Food handler's certification and knowledge of food safety regulations.
  • Passion for creating exceptional dining experiences and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
