retail setting in Trinidad & Tobago. The successful candidate will ensure safe dispensing practices, regulatory compliance,
and excellent customer service while supervising a small team of pharmacy staff. This role also includes responsibility for
developing staff rosters to support efficient operations and service delivery.
• Screen prescriptions for legality, dosage accuracy, drug interactions, and therapeutic appropriateness
• Provide patient counselling on medication use, adherence, side effects, and storage
• Promote rational drug use and provide basic primary healthcare advice
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with professional standards
Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure full compliance with:
o Pharmacy Board of Trinidad & Tobago licensing requirements
o Dangerous Drugs Act (where applicable)
o Food and Drugs Act and Regulations
• Maintain proper records for narcotics and controlled substances
• Ensure the pharmacy premises, storage, and operations meet inspection standards
• Support and cooperate with inspections by regulatory authorities
Retail Pharmacy Operations
• Oversee the day-to-day running of the pharmacy, ensuring efficient workflow
• Monitor and manage inventory including ordering, receiving, and expiry tracking
• Ensure proper storage conditions (e.g., temperature control where required)
• Assist with merchandising, pricing, and promotional activities
• Support sales of OTC products, health items, and front-store goods
Staff Supervision
• Supervise a team of pharmacy staff (e.g., pharmacy assistants, technicians)
• Delegate tasks and ensure proper workflow and accountability
• Train staff on dispensing support, customer service, and store procedures
• Monitor staff performance and provide coaching where necessary
Roster & Workforce Management
• Prepare and manage weekly/monthly staff rosters to ensure adequate coverage
• Ensure a registered pharmacist is present on duty at all times as required by law
• Adjust schedules for sick leave, vacation, and peak hours
• Track attendance, punctuality, and overall staff availability
Customer Service & Community Engagement
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered customer service
• Provide advice on minor ailments and recommend suitable OTC treatments
• Handle customer queries and complaints professionally
• Support health promotion initiatives such as blood pressure or blood sugar awareness (if applicable)
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
• Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) or equivalent from a recognized institution
Licensing
• Must be registered and licensed with the Pharmacy Board of Trinidad & Tobago
• Valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
Experience
• 4–5 years of experience in a retail/community pharmacy setting
Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of local pharmaceutical laws and regulations
• Proven supervisory and team leadership skills
• Experience preparing and managing staff rosters
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing
• Good organizational and time-management abilities
• Familiarity with pharmacy dispensing and POS systems
