Cementing Specialist Trainee

The Cementing Specialist Trainee works under the supervision of the Cementing Specialists.

JOB SUMMARY

The Cementing Specialist Trainee works under the supervision of the Cementing Specialists in performing software modeling for hydraulics and centralization; assists in preparation of cementing procedures, data compilation and end of well reports; and supports in performing quality assurance and quality control checks for cementing equipment as required. The position is also required to have an appreciation of cementing lab testing practices, bulk blending and operational execution; they are also required assist with material (cement and cementing chemicals) reconciliation and data upload into database software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

a)     BSc. Petroleum Engineering or Science science-related field of study.

b)     At least 1 – 2 years of experience or exposure to the Oil and Gas environment.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Cementing Specialist Trainee reports to the Cementing Technical Manager and has a working relationship with the Cementing Specialists, Cementing Operations Manager and Base Manager/Cementing Design Centre Manager.

FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical

The Cementing Specialist Trainee must attend all requisite training to meet the following requirements:

a)     Understand all duties related to cementing design process flow

b)     Cementing operations – bulk plant and operational execution

c)      Cementing chemicals and lab testing – Cementing design Centre

d)     Cementing software modeling – plug, hydraulics and centralization, mud displacement efficiency

e)     Understand all applicable standards

f)      Apply above knowledge in the generation of a cementing procedure

g)     Evaluate job execution/Quality assurance and control

h)     Post job analysis

i)       Understand MOC requirements

j)       Understand Basic Mud Engineering

k)     Basic Cementing Job Evaluation

l)       Perform Cementing calculations under the supervision of the Cementing Specialists

Operations

a)     Assist with the development of cementing job designs in accordance with Cementing Design Flow Process and any applicable standards.

b)     Understand the full range of the Company’s cementing-related services (e.g. Primary, Liner, Remedial, Coil Tubing, Squeeze, Plug, etc.) and related applications, equipment and tools.

c)      Train with Cementing Specialists to gain in-depth knowledge of all Mechanical Cementing Aids (centralizers, stage tools, float equipment, etc.) and cementing equipment (including quality assurance checks).

d)     Troubleshoot and execute minor repairs on all cementing equipment under the supervision of the Operations Team.

e)     Work as part of team to develop Cementing Risk Analysis.

f)      Train with the Cementing Operations team to understand Bulk Plant operations.

g)     Collection of related data on key parameters during the execution of cementing jobs by the Cementing Operations Team.

n)     Assist the Cementing Specialists in tracking of materials and equipment based on pre and post job inventories from the Cementing jobs.

o)     Assist Cementing Specialists in post job modeling and the compilation of post job data.

p)     Train at the Cementing Design Centre to perform the functions and responsibilities of a Cementing Lab Technician in the testing of cement, slurry and spacer as per standards defined;

q)     Assist in the preparation of end of section reports, update of “Lessons Learnt” and compile end of well reports;

r)      Perform any other related duties required by management to ensure the successful completion and/or running of TES Operations.
