Catering Manager

We are seeking an individual to fill the role of Catering Manager. This person will be responsible to increase the operational efficiency of the Catering operations by enhancing the operational procedure, systems and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes, enhanced management reporting and seeking opportunities to expand systems.

 

Key duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain communication with Cluster GM, management, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the organization.
  • To develop short- and long-term goals and strategies in collaboration with the Cluster General Manager and ensure implementation of these.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety and quality assurance protocols
  • Grow the efficiency of existing organizational processes and procedures to enhance and sustain the organization’s internal capacity.
  • Actively pursue strategic and operational objectives.
  • Ensure operational activities remain on time and within a defined budget.
  • Responsible for the business development and profitability of the organization
  • To analyze operating costs and sales reports every month from data in the monthly accounts to determine strategy for controlling costs, reducing wastage and improving productivity.
  • Lead, motivate, and support a large team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including setup and implementation of career development plans for all direct reports and problem resolution
  • Conduct budget reviews and report cost plans to upper management
  • Serve as primary point of contact when there are customer issues related to equipment quality, customer service, or accidents and mishaps on-site
  • To assist the HR Lead with staffing requirements and hiring of new employees as needed
  • To support in Union relations including key liaison as required

Qualifications and Experience needed:

  • A first degree in Operations Management, Business Management or related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Post graduate degree will be an asset.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in an operations and leadership management position within the Airline, Airline Catering, Industrial Catering and/or Airline Ground Operations industry preferred.
  • Experience in airline or catering industry an asset
  • Food and Beverage or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety rules and HACCP
  • Knowledge in international business operations, labour laws.
  • Able to communicate in English orally and in writing; Spanish/Dutch will be an asset.

Other Skills and Attributes desired:

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain an environment of trust, diversity, and inclusion
  • Strong budget development and oversight skills.
  • Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational control of branch operations and customer service.
  • Highly trained in conflict management and business negotiation processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) etc.
  • Proven leadership skills to coordinate and engage staff and teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
