About the role:

Actavo’s Maintenance Linesman (Located in Trinidad) will deliver and maintain service for our clients GPON products within our Telecommunication Division in Trinidad by diagnosing faults, climbing poles, and replacing distribution cable. The lineman is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of overhead and underground Telecommunication lines.

Reporting to the O&M Supervisor, the Cable Maintenance Linesman is responsible for maintaining control of all aspects of the outside plant (OSP)... You will be able to work in both indoor and outdoor settings, read and maintain network schematics and diagrams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in the maintenance of overhead and underground GPON products to a standard set out by the client
• Work to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) & Service Level Agreement (SLA) set out by both the Client and Actavo
• Positively promote the client’s brand, through on-site performance
• Safely and accurately prepares work sites with warning signs and secures area.
• Liaise with the Maintenance Team Supervisor to ensure that on-site health and safety requirements or issues are communicated in a timely manner.
• Complete the following tasks: New Cable Installs, Pole Transfers, Strand Building, Cable Hanging, Lashing, Make Readies.
• Conduct work outdoors in various types of weather.
• Operate hand tools near and around electrical distribution lines.
• Install and repair Fibre Optic cable in a variety of environments.
• Further industry knowledge on an ongoing basis.
• Uphold quality workmanship standards.
• To assist splicers on cable break
• Clearing of vegetation from telecommunication lines

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Able to read prints and other engineering documentation.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
• Mechanically inclined and detail oriented.
• Must have valid Driver’s License
• Experience in Bucket Truck Operation considered an asset.
• Be able to complete following tasks: New Cable Installs, Pole Transfers, Strand Building, Cable Hanging, Lashing, Make Readies, and Figuration.
• Be of outstanding good character – references required.
• Must be able to understand company health and safety policies and adhere to same at all times.
• Able to pull up loads of up to 100 pounds.
• Must be determined and committed to high quality standards.
• Ability to work on own initiative and act independently whilst being able to work successfully as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work shifts in line with business requirements.
• Ability to represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
• Possess excellent time keeping skills.
