The Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority (TTCAA) is mandated to regulate and administer a safe civil aviation system whilst ensuring that Trinidad and Tobago properly discharges its obligations under international civil aviation agreements and treaties.  The TTCAA is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person for the following position:

CABIN SAFETY AND DANGEROUS GOODS INSPECTOR I

JOB SUMMARY:

The Cabin Safety and Dangerous Goods Inspector plays a critical role in protecting passengers and crew, enforcing local and international safety standards, and ensuring airlines operate safely and responsibly. Their work bridges regulatory oversight with practical safety enforcement in both cabin operations and dangerous goods management.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inspections and Surveillance:

• Conduct inspections of passengers carrying air operators to ensure compliance with civil aviation regulations.
• Perform audits and surveillance of cabin safety procedures, equipment, and crew performance during operations.

Certification and Compliance:

• Participate in the certification process for Air Operator Certificates (AOC).
• Review and approve cabin crew operations manuals and dangerous goods manuals to ensure they meet regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with other inspectors to review Minimum Equipment Lists (MELs) for compliance.

Training Oversight:

• Review and approve cabin crew and dangerous goods training programs.
• Perform any other related duties as may be required. 

Reporting and Recommendations:

• Provide detailed reports on inspection findings.
• Make recommendations to operators and Flight Operations Inspectors for corrective actions.

Policy and Guidance:

• Develop, administer, and enforce regulations and standards concerning cabin safety and dangerous goods handling.
• Provide technical guidance to airlines on compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in special projects to improve cabin safety practices.

Safety Oversight

• Ensure cabin safety equipment is properly maintained and operational.
• Verify that dangerous goods are packaged, labelled and transported according to ICAO and IATA standards.
• Investigate incidents or accidents related to cabin safety or dangerous goods.
