Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, North-Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA).
COOK I
The incumbent will be responsible for preparing meals to be served to patients at the Institution, complying with all sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards. Also responsible for the appropriate use of the supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste and fraud.
Main Responsibilities:-
- Cleans and peels vegetables and fruits.
- Portion/plate meals in individual trays/containers.
- Cleans and washes kitchen area and equipment.
- Sets up stations and collects all necessary supplies to prepare menu for service.
- Prepares a variety of food; breads, desserts, meat, porridges, poultry, salads, seafood, soups, vegetables and cold food items for service.
- Assists in the preparation of meals for formal functions e.g. Christmas parties, New Years, etc.
- Covers, dates and correctly stores all bits and pieces, and food items as priority.
- Notifies the organisational relationship in advance of shortages in supplies to effectively manage the reorder limits.
- Receives and weigh food items.
- Uses food preparation tools in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions.
- Complies with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards at all times.
- Ensures all storage areas are tidy and all products are stored appropriately throughout shift.
- Secures the kitchen correctly by following the closing checklist accordingly.
Minimum Qualifications, Training and Experience:
- Five (5) O’ Level passes; two of which must be English Language and Mathematics.
- Certificates and formalised Training in Food Preparation/Food and Nutrition.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a related field.
- A valid food badge.
* Certificates acquired at foreign universities MUST be supported by certified transcripts as well as evidence that the completed programme is accredited in Trinidad and Tobago.
