The convenience store manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily operations at the mini-mart convenience store. The incumbent will also be responsible for the operational efficiency, staff training, productivity, and profitability of the store.

  • Oversee daily store operations including, opening and closing procedures, cash handling and workflow management.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise store staff, providing leadership and fostering a positive work environment. 
  • Manage inventory levels, coordinate merchandising ordering, and ensure proper stock rotation to prevent shortages and losses.
  • Monitor cash over/short, inventory shrinkage, etc daily.
  • Perform daily reconciliations and prepare financial reports on sales and expenses.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service through the training of staff and the creation of customer engagement protocols.
  • Implement promotions, ensuring all POS advertising/signage are properly posted at the proper time.
  • Resolve customer complaints in a professional and timely manner. 
  • Implement and maintain visual merchandising and store presentation standards to maximise product appeal.
  • Create a safe working environment through the enforcement of health, safety and sanitation legislation.
  • Develop and execute loss prevention strategies and monitor security to safeguard store assets.
  • Maintain constant communication with senior management, on store performance and operational challenges.
  • Holder of a Trinidad and Tobago Food Handler’s Badge.
  • Capable of working weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts as needed.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of retail operations, inventory control, store management and point of sale systems
  • Knowledge of communication platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom etc
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

 Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Associate Degree in Business Management, Retail Management or any other related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in retail or convenience store management.
  • Proven Leadership skills with experience in staff supervision and team development.    
  • Any other combination of training and experience.
