Community Health Aide (HSC/HS 4)
Salary range:$1,545,377 - $1,836,968 per annum
The Trelawny Health Services is currently seeking to employ Community Health Aides for the Trelawny Health Department in the communities of . Albert Town, Warsop, Troy Health and Duncans.
Reporting to the Registered Midwife and Public Health Nurse the incumbents will be responsible for providing advice and assistance to families in areas including Maternal & Child Health, Family Planning, Nutrition, First Aid and Personal Hygiene.
Core Responsibilities:
- Render basic first aid treatment to members of the community and refer persons to appropriate health facilities for treatment
- Teach community members basic health facts & promote adoption of healthier lifestyles
- Advise parents and guardians of the importance of having their children completely immunized against infectious diseases
- Encourage the regular attendance of infants and young children to the Child Welfare Clinics
- Motivate and refer new clients for Family Planning Services, encourage delinquents to attend clinic regularly stressing the importance of using the family planning method, as advised at the health centre
- Assist the Public Health Nurses and District Midwives in identifying all pregnant women in the area and ensure that they attend clinics to receive adequate antenatal and postnatal care
- Assist the Public Health Nurses, District Midwives, Staff Nurses, Medical Officers & other health professionals at clinics and during community outreach/mass immunization programmes
- Undertake house to house surveys of persons within a defined geographic area to obtaining data on health status, as directed and maintaining the appropriate records
- Inform the community of all the services offered by the Ministry of Health & Wellness and other ministries, departments, agencies & organizations
- Perform other duties, as assigned by the Public Health Nurse/ District Midwife
Minimum Qualifications
- Five (5) ‘O’ Level/CSEC subjects including; English Language & Mathematics/Principles of Accounts
- Successfully completed a minimum of eight (8) weeks training approved by the Ministry of Health & Wellness
- HEART TRUST certification in Community Health Aide/ Healthcare Assistant
