The Western Regional Health Authority (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness) is currently seeking to employ a COMMUNITY HEALTH AIDE for the Cambridge Health Centre.
COMMUNITY HEALTH AIDE
(HSC/HS 4)

(Salary Scale: $1,545,377.00 – $1,836,968.00 per annum)
The Community Health Aide will be expected to:
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct home visits
- Provide care for the elderly including meeting their hygiene, physical, emotional and psychosocial needs/ provide care and support
- Identify mobility needs and assist clients as required
- Observe, detect and respond to signs of abuse
- Conduct periodic house to house survey of persons within the assigned area to obtain data on age groups and their health status
- Refer clients with health problems to members of the health care team and other agencies
- Assist Public Health Nurses & District Midwives in identifying all expectant and postnatal mothers in assigned area and ensuring that they attend clinic early and regularly to receive adequate prenatal and postnatal care
- Assist with the care of persons with mental and psychological disorders
- Demonstrate knowledge of the stages of child development
- Guide parents and guardians to understand their roles and responsibilities
- Provide basic information and strategies in sexual health for men and women
- Facilitate the provision of information to clients (males and females) on sexual and reproductive health
- Encourage regular attendance at Child Health Clinic to facilitate the immunization of children in a timely manner
- Assist the Public Health Nurse in mass immunization programmes e.g. documentation and crowd control
- Identify signs of environmental risk factors due to mosquito, rodent and other pests as well as improper solid waste management and refer to appropriate personnel
Specific Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Good mental & physical health
- Proactive work attitude and good interpersonal skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication & time management skills
Qualification & Experience:
- Five (5) CXC subjects including Mathematics and English Language
- Successfully completed a minimum of eight (8) weeks training approved by the Ministry of Health or HEART TRUST Certification in Community Health Aide/ Healthcare Assistant
