We are seeking an accomplished executive to serve as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The successful candidate will provide strategic financial leadership, oversee accounting and reporting, manage risk and compliance, and align financial operations with organizational goals.

Job Function

The Chief Financial Officer is the senior financial executive responsible for the full financial architecture, performance analytics, and fiscal discipline of a 24-store restaurant chain with regional expansion into Guyana and the wider Caribbean. The role is operationally intensive, with a strong predisposition toward restaurant-level analytics, cost control, cash flow optimization, and scalable reporting systems across multiple entities and jurisdictions. It requires direct ownership of financial performance drivers—food cost, labour cost, inventory, and unit economics—across all stores and subsidiaries. All accounting activities must be carried out in accordance with organizational policies, established procedures, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sustain the financial strategy across Mario’s Pizzeria Limited and all subsidiary entities.
  • Drive profitability through disciplined financial planning, cost management, and margin expansion.
  • Provide executive-level financial insight to support expansion into new Caribbean markets.
  • Establish and enforce financial policies, internal controls, and governance standards.
  • Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including Profit &Loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
  • Deliver annual financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards and local regulations.
  • Consolidate financials across multiple entities, including cross-border operations in Guyana.
  • Oversee audits, statutory filings, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting.
  • Develop and implement a robust financial analytics framework tailored to multi-unit restaurant operations and produce detailed weekly and monthly reports on:
    • Food cost (theoretical vs actual, variance analysis, waste tracking)
    • Labor cost (hours, productivity ratios, overtime control)
    • Sustain the financial strategy across Mario’s Pizzeria Limited and all subsidiary entities.
    • Drive profitability through disciplined financial planning, cost management, and margin expansion.
    • Provide executive-level financial insight to support expansion into new Caribbean markets.
    • Establish and enforce financial policies, internal controls, and governance standards.
    • Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including Profit &Loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
    • Deliver annual financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards and local regulations.
    • Consolidate financials across multiple entities, including cross-border operations in Guyana.
    • Oversee audits, statutory filings, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting.
    • Develop and implement a robust financial analytics framework tailored to multi-unit restaurant operations and produce detailed weekly and monthly reports on:
      • Food cost (theoretical vs actual, variance analysis, waste tracking)
      • Labor cost (hours, productivity ratios, overtime control)
      • Prime cost and store-level profitability
      • Sales mix, contribution margins, and menu engineering
      • Identify underperforming locations and implement corrective financial actions.
      • Partner with operations to enforce cost controls and improve unit economics.
      • Lead the annual budgeting process across all business units.
      • Develop rolling forecasts and scenario models based on sales trends, inflation, and expansion plans.
      • Monitor budget vs actual performance and enforce accountability across departments.
      • Lead and manage the Finance and Accounting Department (approx. 10 staff).
      • Oversee the Payroll Unit (2 staff), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
      • Supervise the Inventory Control Team (3 staff), ensuring tight stock management, variance control, and reporting integrity.
      • Build a high-performance finance function with clear KPIs, accountability structures, and reporting timelines.
      • Maintain strict control over cash flow, liquidity, and banking relationships.
      • Optimize working capital, including inventory levels, payables, and receivables.
      • Ensure adequate funding for operations, capital expenditure, and expansion initiatives.
      • Implement and optimize financial systems, POS integrations, and reporting dashboards.
      • Drive automation of reporting and analytics to improve speed and accuracy.
      • Strengthen internal controls to reduce leakage, fraud risk, and inefficiencies.
      • Monitor financial performance of the Guyana franchise, including royalty tracking and compliance.
      • Develop scalable financial models for new stores and markets.
      • Perform any other related duties as required by the job function or assigned by the CEO.

 Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum 10–15 years’ senior finance experience, with at least 5 years in a multi-unit restaurant or retail environment.
  • Proven experience managing full finance functions, including payroll and inventory control.
  • Strong expertise in cost accounting, unit economics, and operational finance.
  • Experience with multi-entity and cross-border financial management.
  • CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting designation.
  • Knowledge of Ez Payroll, QuickBooks, Reciprofity and Excel.
