CHIEF ENGINEER
The successful applicant will be responsible for the overall maintenance and management of the property’s mechanical and physical assets. He or she will manage all engineering operations for interior and exterior facilities, including all electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, heating and cooling, structural, ground care, and parking area facilities.
Specific requirements/duties of the position include:
- Maintaining hotel standards, policies, and procedures as they relate to health and safety and human resource management
- Developing and implementing energy-efficient strategies for utility consumption.
- Developing and managing an annual budget for regular operations, capital expenditures and utilities
- Managing effective preventative maintenance programmes for all maintainable assets and guest rooms
- Troubleshooting all mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems
- Developing and managing appropriate inventory of material, spares and tools for maintenance activities
- Organizing, directing, planning, and controlling all engineering activities.
- Negotiating contracts with vendors and clients
- Coordinating the engineering team and assigning goals for the completion of project plans
- Performing quality control checks on all systems and products.
- Calculating costs, material, labour, and time required for each project
- Ensuring ethical and regulatory compliance with respect to installation, operation, and maintenance of hotel equipment & systems
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering
- A minimum of four (4) years of management experience
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the hospitality industry
- Ability to draft, review, and evaluate engineering blueprints.
- Working knowledge of ASHRAE, JS21, NFPA & NEC life safety codes and standards.
- CEM/CFM certification preferred.
- Experience with Chilled Water Systems
- Experience with wastewater treatment and reverse osmosis water plants necessary
- The ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
