Role Overview
The Business Operations & Senior Accounts Manager is a senior leadership role that combines
strategic company operational oversight with technical expertise in accounting, auditing, and
taxation. The manager ensures that client deliverables meet international standards, oversees the
firm’s internal processes, and works closely with the CEO to drive KCLH’s growth strategy. This
is a pivotal position for a dynamic professional with strong auditing, taxation and operations
experience who is ready to lead teams, manage high-value client relationships, and contribute
directly to the success of a growing business solutions firm.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency across all service lines.
- Drive process improvements, systems upgrades, and automation to strengthen internal operations.
- Work with the CEO and outsourced departments (HR, Marketing, Special Projects) to align operations with company goals.
- Accounting, Auditing &Taxation, general operations of the KCLH firm
- Lead/Oversee statutory audits and assurance engagements, ensuring compliance with IFRS, ISA, and local regulatory frameworks.
- Oversee client financial reporting, including preparation and review of management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Supervise tax compliance and planning activities, coordinating with the Assistant
- Taxation Manager to deliver advisory services.
- Provide technical guidance on complex audit, accounting, and tax matters, serving as a subject-matter expert for the firm.
- Manage escalated matters with regulatory bodies, tax authorities, and external auditors as required.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO, participating in planning meetings, strategic reviews, and decision-making processes.
- Translate the CEO’s vision and priorities into actionable operational plans and measurable goals for each department.
- Monitor progress on strategic initiatives and provide regular status updates and dashboards for the CEO.
- Prepare executive reports, board updates, and presentations summarizing firm performance and project status.
- Identify operational risks or inefficiencies and propose solutions to the CEO.
- Act as the CEO’s representative in day-to-day operational decisions and meetings when necessary.
- Facilitate communication between the CEO and department heads (Audit, Tax, Admin).
- Manage special cross-functional projects such as technology upgrades, process automation, or restructuring initiatives.
- Develop performance tracking systems and key metrics for firm operations (KPIs, or balanced scorecards).
- Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Handle sensitive information with discretion, including HR or strategic matters discussed at the executive level.
- Assist in managing executive communications, priorities, and internal follow-ups on behalf of the CEO.
- Support in vendor negotiations, partnership discussions, or new business initiatives as directed by the CEO.
Client Relationship & Business Development
Act as the primary point of escalation for accounting, audit, and tax clients.
Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international clients, ensuring high service quality.
Review and approve service proposals, scopes of work, and pricing for new and existing client engagements.
Support business development efforts by providing technical expertise during client pitches and proposals.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead and mentor auditors, accounting clerks, and officers assigned to client accounts.
Ensure workload balance, effective resource allocation, and continuous professional development of the team.
Promote a culture of excellence, accountability, and client-focused service delivery.
Support leadership team development by ensuring accountability, follow-up, and alignment on firm goals.
Risk, Controls & Compliance
Establish and enforce strong internal controls and quality assurance procedures.
Monitor compliance with accounting standards, audit requirements, and tax regulations.
Identify risks and recommend preventive and corrective actions to safeguard both client and firm interests.
Qualifications & Experience
- Professional designation: ACCA, CPA, or CA (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (Master’s degree preferred).
- 6–10 years’ progressive experience in accounting, auditing, and taxation, with atleast 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
- At least 4 years experience in operations management or similar role requirement (Banking and Finance or Accountng Firm
- Proven track record in leading audits, managing tax compliance, and providing advisory services.
- Strong understanding of Jamaican tax laws, IFRS, and international audit standards.
- Demonstrated experience managing teams and client relationships in a professional services environment.
