Job Overview

The Business Development Officer supports the execution of SCHSBM’s business development activities by assisting in pipeline development, market research, proposal preparation, and client engagement initiatives. The role contributes to revenue generation across the School’s enterprise portfolio by supporting the identification and development of commercial opportunities and ensuring the effective coordination of business development processes. The position is externally oriented but primarily execution-focused, supporting the Manager in delivering measurable revenue outcomes.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 1.     Pipeline Development Support

  • Assist in identifying and tracking new business opportunities across all revenue streams.
  • Maintain and update records of leads, prospects, and opportunities.
  • Support outreach activities to prospective clients and partners.

 2.     Proposal and Tender Support

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, expressions of interest, and tender submissions.
  • Coordinate inputs from academic and technical teams.
  • Support the development of proposal content, presentations, and supporting documentation.

 3.     Market Research and Intelligence

  • Conduct research on target sectors, organisations, and emerging opportunities.
  • Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and client needs.
  • Prepare briefs and reports to inform business development strategy.

 4.     Client Engagement Support

  • Assist in coordinating meetings, presentations, and follow-ups with prospective clients.
  • Support relationship management activities and client communication.
  • Prepare briefing materials for engagements with stakeholders.

 5.     Cross-Unit Coordination

  • Work with academic, consultancy, executive education, and aviation teams to support opportunity development.
  • Assist in translating programme offerings into client-ready materials.
  • Support internal coordination for proposal development and project initiation.

 6.     CRM and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of business development activities using tracking systems.
  • Support reporting on pipeline performance and business development metrics.
  • Assist in monitoring conversion rates and opportunity progress.

 7.     General Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and coordination support for special projects as assigned.
  • Perform any other related duties as required by the Manager, Business Development and Strategic Partnerships or authorised personnel.

  • Strong analytical and research skills.

  • Professional and confident in stakeholder interactions.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in business development, research, consulting, or a related role.
  • Experience supporting proposals, tenders, or project development.
  • Experience in higher education, consulting, or professional services is an asset.

 Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (required) in Business Administration (MBA), Management, Economics, or a related discipline.
