Overview: The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) invites applications for the position of Business Development Officer within the Sales & Marketing Department. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in identifying, managing, and delivering strategic business development initiatives that support revenue growth, digital transformation, and network expansion across APUA Telecom’s services. This dynamic role requires both commercial insight and project management discipline to ensure timely and effective execution of enterprise-level initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and manage B2B and B2C opportunities to upsell and cross-sell APUA Telecom’s products and services.
  • Develop and execute strategies to penetrate new and underserved markets.
  • Lead the end-to-end business development lifecycle from prospecting through to closing deals.
  • Prepare and submit bids, proposals, and tenders for large-scale telecom/ISP projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with property developers, real estate firms, government agencies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Introduce and manage CRM tools to support prospecting, pipeline visibility, and performance metrics.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure service readiness for new business opportunities.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and close-out of development projects in line with APUA’s strategic goals.
  • Develop business cases, project plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct post-project reviews to capture insights and drive continuous improvement.
  • Explore strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and business collaborations.

            

Key Competencies:

  • Strong project management skills including budgeting, scheduling, and risk control.
  • In-depth commercial knowledge of telecom/ISP products and market dynamics.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder relationship skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams

 

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in business development or corporate sales, preferably within the telecommunications or ISP sector.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and delivering commercial business opportunities.
  • Proven experience managing projects from initiation to completion.
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) would be an asset
