The Business Development Officer is generally accountable for the attainment and execution of all food and feed export logistics for their assigned export territory.

Reporting to the Manager, Market Business Development, this role is responsible for driving sales and executing logistics and marketing strategies aimed at growing and retaining our export customer base. This is a travelling sales role that involves working closely with the Export Coordinator to manage client needs, provide quotations, product samples, marketing materials and ensure smooth execution of the order to cash process. The incumbent will be expected to meet territory targets, maintain strong communication with other internal teams and external customers and ensure receivables are collected within approved credit terms. A key aspect of the role includes forecasting demands to ensure product availability aligns with market needs.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attainment of export territory sales target as established by the company and department
  • Facilitates export territory enquiries about product costs by preparing relevant quotations for potential customers
  • Prepares and delivers the relevant new customer company information to the Export Coordinator to expedite customer orders when required
  • Receives and processes export sales orders in accordance with company’s order processing procedures and work instructions when required
  •  Ensures that all paperwork and related documentation are completed accurately and on time to expedite the export sales and order delivery process
  • Responds to and resolves territory customer sales and order delivery issues which may develop from time to time, ensuring in the process that customer loyalty is maintained
  • Ensure that each assigned customer operates credit accounts within the company’s credit policy
  • Periodically monitors credit applications and provides feedback where required to improve customer service
  • Prepares and maintains market profile for all assigned markets
  • Investigates and analyses marketing activity, pricing and sales performance of competing brands in export territory
  • Prepares and presents monthly territory export sales report
  • Recommends and supports the execution of the appropriate advertising, promotional activity and distributors for individual export markets
  • Manages the receivable from export clients
  • Builds and maintains strong customer relationships within assigned markets through regular scheduled customer visits.

 REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Management or related qualification
  • Five (5) years’ demonstrable experience in a sales or export environment
  • Excellent strategic thinking skills and abilities
  • Proven sales experience track record
  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate marketing plans
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Good interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Customer relations experience
  • Meticulous at follow up and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite
  • Knowledge of customs requirements in the regional and extra-regional markets would be an asset
  • Written and verbal language skills in Spanish / French would be an asset.
