POSITION SUMMARY

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) is seeking to recruit a highly skilled Business Development and Marketing Manager to drive the growth of the organization. This role will focus on identifying new business opportunities, expanding the existing portfolio, securing sponsorships, enhancing CTO events, and improving revenue streams and brand visibility.

SUMMARY RE: SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Market and Communications

  1. Opportunity Identification
  • Conduct in-depth market analyses identify emerging trends, new business opportunities, and priority growth sectors.
  • Continuously evaluate current source markets and explore new markets for CTO, with a focus on expanding global reach.
  • Coordinate marketing activities for events, conferences, training, and other initiatives.
  • Track and analyse marketing/promotional campaign performance metrics.

2. Revenue Generation and Diversification

  • Drive new revenue streams by developing and implementing strategies focused on business development and revenue-generating initiatives.
  • Analyse existing revenue sources and explore opportunities.
  • Prepare tailored proposals for potential business partners, sponsors, and collaborators.
  • Lead the development of presentations for new partnerships.

Market and Financial Analysis

  1.  Market Research & Competitive Analysis
  • Collaborate with CTO’s Research team to conduct regular market analysis.
  • Provide insights and actionable recommendations based on market research.

2. Financial Planning and Reporting

  • In collaboration with the Finance team, develop and manage financial plans and budgets for business development projects and CTO events, publications, products and services.
  • Prepare financial reports and performance metrics to assess the profitability of new business ventures and sponsorship deals.

        3. Risk Management

  • Analyse potential risks associated with new business ventures, market expansion, and partnerships; recommend strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Stay informed and up to date about global trends and external factors that could impact the Caribbean tourism sector and CTO’s business.

CTO Event Planning and Management

  1. Event Coordination
  • Lead planning, development, and execution of CTO events, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Oversee all aspects of event logistics.
  • Collaborate with external communication teams to develop event marketing strategies and campaigns that maximize attendance and engagement.

        2. Sponsorship and Partnership Management

  • Identify and secure event sponsorships and partnerships, creating customized packages that meet the needs of sponsors while maximizing revenue for CTO events.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to assess the success of each event.
  • Use data-driven insights to improve future events, enhance sponsor value, and increase overall ROI for CTO events.

Leadership and Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with various project teams consisting of industry experts, marketing and communication professionals, ensuring alignment with CTO’s strategic goals and business objectives.
  • Set clear goals and performance targets for reporting team members, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project execution.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration

  • Work closely with the CTO’s finance, research, resource mobilization and development, membership services and IT to ensure alignment of business development strategies and the execution of marketing campaigns, partnerships, and events.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Tourism Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development, strategic partnerships, and event management, preferably within the tourism or hospitality sectors.
  • Strong financial and strategic planning skills and strong analytical and reporting abilities.
  • Strategic thinker with business mindset.
  • Proven ability to secure sponsorships and partnerships and drive revenue growth.
  • Expertise in organizing and managing large-scale events, including logistics, marketing, and sponsor relations.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to assess market trends and competitor activities, turning data into actionable strategies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to the mission of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM tools, event management software, and financial modeling tools.
