An organization in the General Insurance industry is seeking to fill the position of Underwriter in our branches. The position entails delivering exceptional customer service while efficiently processing transactions.

 

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their specific insurance needs and provide expert guidance and recommendations accordingly.
  • Utilize underwriting guidelines and risk assessment tools to accurately evaluate while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Authorize transactions and receipts where applicable on behalf of the Company.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues to facilitate smooth processing of insurance applications.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Tertiary level qualifications in a business related discipline;
  • Certificate in General Insurance;
  • Salesman License - General Insurance;
  • Three years of experience in general insurance underwriting, with a strong understanding of underwriting processes and procedures;
Required skills and specialized techniques

  •  Sound proficiency in:

    • MICROSOFT Applications Word, Power Point and EXCEL;
    • Knowledge in 4D Underwriter is an asset.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and on own initiative;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and remain calm under pressure;
  • High levels of self-discipline and reliability;
  • Be self – directed, self motivated and results driven;
  • Exhibit professionalism, integrity, etiquette, courtesy and self confidence;
  • Work without close supervision and direction;
  • Have a strong customer service mindset;
  • Clear telephone voice;
  • Ability to resolve conflicting situations and demonstrated influencing skills.
