The Body and Paint Manager runs a profitable collision repair department, responsible for workflow planning of shop employees, safety and productivity levels, as well as the maintenance of quality standards.
• Manage the daily work activity of the body and paint shop employees
• Coach, mentor and develop employees, including overseeing new
employees and providing career development planning and technical training opportunities
• Encourage team work in an environment focused on customer service
• Monitors daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records
• Prepares and manages the annual operating budget for the body and paint shop
• Ensure dealership policy and internal controls are maintained
• Improve and detect employee productivity inefficiencies
• Establish objectives for the department, collectively with the assistant manager and attain
the objectives
• Examine damaged vehicles to determine the degree of structural and
mechanical damage, including bodywork and inside of the vehicles
• Problem solve with respect to the vehicles being repaired in the Body/Paint
shop with close liaison between departments.
• Communicate and ensures compliance with manufacturer warranty policy and procedures
• Implement promotional sales campaigns with external clients to increase body/paint shop sales
• Maintain efficient communication within the department and inter
departments
• Familiarity with Kaizen concepts of continual improvement
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational
workshops, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices and vendor related training
• Build and maintain a good rapport with insurance companies and industry clients
• Reviews, completes insurance forms and maintains relations with insurance adjusters
• Follow up on the progress of vehicles being repaired and ensure that safety
guidelines are adhered
• Monitors and follows up on all parts orders with the parts manager to ensure availability
