Biomedical Engineer

The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for installation of medical equipment, ensuring that it is operating to the manufacturer’s specifications.

Main Responsibilities:

• Install, repair, maintain, calibrate and inspect biomedical medical equipment and instrumentation, including life-support equipment.

• Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices and systems.

• Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.

• Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections and equipment repairs and failures.

• Provide technical assistance and instructions to staff regarding equipment operation and maintenance.

• Review the outcome of preventative maintenance actions and make recommendations to the department’s staff concerning improvements.

• Provide mentoring to other biomedical equipment technicians.

• Perform on call duties.

    Minimum Requirements:

• Must have a 1^st Degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related degree.

• Must have at least Five (5) years’ experience in maintenance of biomedical equipment, including life-support equipment or in a related technical field.

• MLT qualification will be considered an asset.

• Proficient in the use of computers with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

• Any equivalent combination of training and qualification in the related field.
