The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for installation of medical equipment, ensuring that it is operating to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Main Responsibilities:
Install, repair, maintain, calibrate and inspect biomedical medical equipment and instrumentation, including life-support equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices and systems.
Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.
Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections and equipment repairs and failures.
Provide technical assistance and instructions to staff regarding equipment operation and maintenance.
Review the outcome of preventative maintenance actions and make recommendations to the department’s staff concerning improvements.
Provide mentoring to other biomedical equipment technicians.
Perform on call duties.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have a 1st Degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related degree.
Must have at least Five (5) years’ experience in maintenance of biomedical equipment, including life-support equipment or in a related technical field.
MLT qualification will be considered an asset.
Proficient in the use of computers with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Any equivalent combination of training and qualification in the related field.
