JOB TITLE: Bartender/Waitress

SUMMARY: Serve patrons of the restaurant and bar by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Greet all patrons (in house and walk in) with a smile and courteous demeanor, immediately upon entry.
  • Present menu, answer questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service.
  • Oversee the bar display to maximize functionality and attractiveness
  • Prepare and serve drinks as required at the counter, dining area, pool and guest rooms.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Maintain par levels for supplies, liquor, beer, wine and equipment. Complete requisitions to replenish shortages or additional items needed for the anticipated business.
  • Serve patrons at tables or from bar as required
  • Observe patrons to respond to any additional requests. Routinely check in on patrons during meal to determine if everything is to their liking.
  • Immediately inform supervisor or complaints or suggested areas of improvement.
  • Enter orders on Point of Sale system, perform cashier and end of day duties.
  • Ensure that bar, equipment and serving utensils are clean and well maintained at all
  • times.
  • Deposit trash and waste products in waste disposal area.
  • Wash serving utensils and equipment and ensure they are stored appropriately.
  • Immediately inform Restaurant Manager of supply shortages.
  • Promote a hospitable and professional image to the guests and give full cooperation to
  • Any customer requiring assistance, with a prompt, caring and helpful attitude. Render
  • Personal assistance to patrons.
  • Give full cooperation to any coworker requiring assistance in a prompt caring and
  • helpful manner and to be flexible in assisting around the hotel in response to business
  • and guest needs.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Secondary school certificate; or one to three years related experience and/or training. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to customers and other employees of the hotel.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to perform mathematical operations, clearly record and tally sales, calculate cost-sales ratio and create budgets.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions whether in written or oral form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crouch.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • A moderate noise level must be maintained in the work environment at all times.
