Bakery Attendant at the

MegaMart Waterloo branch

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensures that work areas are properly cleaned and sanitized, including work tables, display tables on the floor and showcases.
• Checks items for expiry dates daily, takes off expired products and reports close dated items to the supervisor. Writes up the dump book and open stock book daily.
• Checks items already displayed for damage or if opened or faulty. Also double checks items already on the floor for proper pricing and labels.
• Examines and inspects containers before packing items.
• Packs items and stocks shelves throughout the day, checking at all times for quality.
• Accurately labels and prices items.
• Merchandises goods properly to attract customers and promote sales.
• Practices FIFO ensuring older items are placed at the front of shelves or on the top of stacks.
• Provides excellent customer service, answers questions about products and promotions and locates items for customers. Answers the telephone and responds to queries.
• Takes customer orders accurately.
• Suggests merchandise to customers (suggestive selling).
• Checks for misplaced items and returns them to the correct shelves.
• Cleans throughout the day, washes and sanitizes utensils, tin sheets, and equipment.

Skills and Qualifications:

• 5 C.X.Cs including Mathematics and English
• NVQJ Level 3 Certificate would be an advantage
• Previous experience in a bakery setting, 
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food production.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
