Automotive Engineering Technology Lecturer

The H. Lavity Stoutt Community College which is seeking an exceptional full-time Lecturer to teach in the Technical and Vocational Education Department. The Lecturer must be able to deliver both theory and practical components of their assigned courses.

The Lecturer must be able to comfortably instruct in the following courses:

Courses

• Engineering Science & Technology
• Chassis Brakes & Suspensions Systems
• Engine Overhaul and Repairs
• Automotive Engineering Technology and Science
• Workshop Health and Safety

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Possess strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team, collaborating with other faculty members and contributing to the development of the department and the institution.
• Coordinate internships and other student programmes.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform instructional related responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, vision, policies and procedures of the College;
• Exhibit a record on innovative pedagogy in a face-to-face environment, as well as online.
• Develop innovative and attractive course syllabi, which are in line with current industry trends and expectations.
• Provide a quality learning experience for all students;
• Teach five courses (15-17 credit hours) per semester;
• Teach day, evening, weekend and/or online courses at assigned campus/centre. May be assigned to teach courses at more than one location;
• Serve as an academic advisor to students

• Engage with external institutions, organisations, and the wider community to support research, teaching, and the campus’ strategic objectives.
• Assist in the marketing of the Department's programmes and recruitment of students;

• Actively participate in Department or College Committees.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Master’s degree or its equivalent in in the subject area from an accredited or recognized university.
• Automotive Engineering Technology or relevant industry certification.
• At least three years teaching experience at the tertiary level is required.
• Prior teaching experience at a vocational institute would be an asset.

Compensation

Salary - $55,438.33

1st $10,000.00 tax exempted

8% tax thereafter

8% Gratuity on successful completion of contract.
