The Associate Dean of Student Affairs leads the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), providing strategic and administrative oversight to enhance student engagement, communication, and community building. Reporting to the Dean of Preclinical Sciences and the Provost.

The Associate Dean Will:

  • Lead Student communications and community engagement initiatives.
  • Oversee student government and all student organizations.
  • Collaborate with faculty, administration, and student leaders to address student issues and promote positive institutional change.
  • Manage the New Student Orientation program and coordinate with wellness, academic, and administrative departments to support campus climate and inclusion.
  • Develop assessment models to continuously improve student affairs services. 
Key Responsibilities:
Student Engagement & Leadership
  • Provide leadership for the Office of Student Affairs and assigned faculty.
  • Oversee the Student Government Association and all student clubs.
  • Cultivate a unified campus community - "One School, One AUA Family" - promoting mutual respect and professional engagement among students, faculty, and staff.
Student Advocacy & Issue Resolution
  • Address student concerns and facilitate mediation among students, faculty, and staff.
  • Partner with academic and administrative offices to resolve student-related issues, including crisis response, conduct, and Title IX matters.
  • Collaborate with key departments such a the Provost's Office, Registrar, Financial Aid, and Admissions to support student needs.
University Programs & Compliance
  • Lead the New Student Orientation program each term.
  • Work with Admissions to provide prospective and new students with relevant information about student affairs.
  • Ensure compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act by overseeing crime statisticss reporting.
Strategic Leadership & Administration
  • Lead the Office of Student Affairs on a daily basis
  • Develop and implement strategic goals for the Office of Student Affairs, using data to improve student services and retention.
  • Develop and manage the Office of Student Affairs budget, in collaboration with the Dean of Preclinical Sciences.
  • Assist in publishing the AUA Student Handbook each term. 
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in higher education administration, counselling, or a related field required; doctoral degree (MD, MBBS, PhD, EdD) preferred.
  • 4-6 years of experience in higher education student services, preferably with graduate or medical students.
  • Experience with student conduct, crisis management, mediation, and conflict resolution preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with a student-centered approach.
  • Knowledge of Federal regulations including Jeanne Clery Act, Title II, and Title IX.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, student information systems, online learning platforms, and electronic communications.
