Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Group Treasury & Asset Management team in the capacity of:
Assistant Vice President –
Portfolio Management
(Off-Balance Sheet) (Grade 5)
Collaborate within the Group Treasury and Asset Management teams to achieve the strategic revenue objectives and performance targets with regards to the management of all off-balance sheet exposure.
Use research and analysis, internal and external, to drive their portfolio decisions while conforming to all regulatory and policy guidelines.
Make investment decisions relating to assets held in each portfolio within its mandate, as well as within regulatory and investment policy guidelines.
Collaborate with other units in Sagicor Group regarding the management of the portfolios including product planning and design.
Location: Kingston
As an AVP – Portfolio Management (Off-Balance Sheet), you will:
- Collaborate with analysts, conduct research and make important investment decisions.
- Participate in development and implementation the fund’s investment strategy and monitor its trading activities with regard to relevant risk exposures.
- Manage exposures across all funds to minimize financial risks.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of funds.
- Liaise with Treasury Manager of the related funds and ensure that adequate cash balances are kept on hand to satisfy liquidity needs liabilities.
- Coordinate as required on projects related to portfolio management related to operational efficiency, product enhancement and or development.
- Actively manage portfolios to achieve returns in line with benchmarks.
- Ensure funds operate effectively and meet performance, quality and customer care targets, as well as complying with industry standards.
- Keep up to date with regulations and monitor changes and developments in order to ensure the optimal performance of the fund.
- Review up-to-date reports for trustees and all communication on portfolio performance for dissemination to EBD client pension investment relationship team.
- Review up-to-date reports for investors and all communication on portfolio performance for dissemination to client relationship team.
- Contribute to annual and other financial reports.
- Meet with the Client Pension Investment & Client Relationship teams at least quarterly and as requested to discuss investment strategies and the performance of the assets.
- Assist in preparation of investment reports for board, and sub-committees based on reporting guidelines as provided by SVP.
- Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
- M.Sc. in Economics, Accounts, Finance or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution. CFA designation would be an asset.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration or similar area of study or an equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Jamaica Institute of Management Securities course.
- Ten (10) years’ working experience in financial services industry, with at least five (5) years in a management capacity.
- Knowledge of financial products, business environment and financial tools/software.
- Demonstrated project management skills to lead a team from multiple functional disciplines to accomplish tasks.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Ability to develop new insights into situations and apply creative and innovative solutions to make organizational (product/market positioning) improvements and satisfy desired results.
- Ability to create and manage change.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form.
- Ability to develop and sustain effective and cooperative working relationships with peers, supervisors, managerial staff and senior management.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to influence others.
- High levels of self-motivation.
