The Assistant Underwriter is responsible for proper risk assessment to determine acceptance of applications, writing new insurance business, renewing business, preparing policies and supporting the Underwriting function.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides quotations according to Underwriting Guidelines
  • Negotiates terms with policyholders and/or intermediaries and specifies conditions to be insured.
  • Provides, follows up and acts upon quotations for new business.
  • Conducts timely renewal process to optimize retention ratio
  • Enters endorsement information according to underwriting standards and limits of authority.
  • Verifies information and produces policy documents and certificates.
  • Verifies and validates Bordereaux from Agents/Brokers to ensure proper documentation and risk assessment.
  • Provides and processes data for analytical reports.
  • Advises Brokers, Agents and other intermediaries to ensure compliance.
  • Maintains hard copy and electronic filing systems to facilitate easy retrieval and proper record keeping in accordance with the company’s standards and requirements.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of a Team environment by performing other related duties
  • Adheres to Anti-Money Laundering and other regulatory requirements
  • Actively applies and delivers all TRINRE Customer Service Standards and core beliefs by demonstrating professionalism, promptness, accuracy, courtesy and helpfulness
  • Reviews all policy files, prepares Compliance Check Lists, sends out letters and follow-up for documentation

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 5 CXC passes including English and Mathematics
  • Cert. CII or related certification
  • Five (5) years’ experience in an insurance environment
  • State License / Intro To General Insurance Certification
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
