The Assistant Manager, Warehouse & Distribution will oversee our Carlsen Field operation, participate in the shipping, receiving, storing, and issuing of product, inventory/fixed assets management, maintain receiving and inventory control records for Carlsen Field operation.

The incumbent will be responsible for developing & shaping strategic plans, scheduling pickups, deliveries and distribution of products, forecasting peak delivery periods and issuing appropriate work assignments. This role also requires strong collaboration with department heads to coordinate production, sales, record control and purchasing. Customer service management will be critical to meeting the business needs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee the efficient operation of the warehouses, distribution centres, Carlsen Field operation and replacements for vehicles fleets and equipment.
  • Oversee/perform daily and monthly inventory counts.
  • Oversee and participate in the receiving, shipping, and storing of inventory items.
  • Maintain the warehouse in a clean, orderly, safe, and secure condition.
  • Determine/make recommendations regarding proper storage and warehousing procedures, inventory management in the best overall economic interest of the company and improvements in warehouse efficiency.
  • Analyse stock levels and establish order schedules.
  • Coordinate drivers, vehicles, loads and journeys.
  • Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle for effective batching and routing through the distribution requirement plan (DRP).
  • Analyse data to assess performance, discover logistical problems and devise plans for improvements, develop optimisation strategies and produce new solutions.
  • Allocate and manage staff resources and activities according to changing needs.
  • Create, implement, and manage strategies and processes to guarantee all finished goods products both inbound and outbound logistics, is sent and received on time.
  • Develop and implement warehouse safety and security programs.
  • Championing a culture of measurement for gap closing exercise.
  • Directs staff activities and monitors their performance with corrective action plan.
  • Devise plans to manage aged stock/slow moving inventory.
  • Any other related duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or Logistics.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a junior management position.
  • Experience in managing supply chain processes, operations, productivity, and efficiency measurements.
  • Experience using ERP systems, especially Advance Planning Systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership & team building skills.
  • Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be deadline oriented and results driven.
  • Must be committed, reliable and well organized.
  • Sound knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures including manufacturing planning, demand, and replenishment processes.
  • Proficient in MS office applications.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to reason and influence at all levels.
