Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Corporate Accounting team in the capacity of: 

 

 

Assistant Manager - Financial Analyst

  

Responsible for financial planning, analyses, and projections for the company. The financial analyst must work closely with the executive team to set company-wide investment direction and policies.

 

Leverage a strong accounting and compliance background to explore historical financial data, predict future results and drive process and policy improvements

  

Location: Kingston

 

As an Assistant Manager - Financial Analyst, you will:

  • Develop and execute extensive analytical review of the operating expenses of the main reporting entities (SBJ, SIJL, and SIC).
  • Produce financial reports for Management and Board of Directors.
  • Effective management of Sagicor Group Budgeting & Financial Planning Systems to obtain management and board approval of budgets for the year ahead with three-year projections in December.
  • Research and obtain current financial data and performance of our competitors across various industry.
  • Assist with evaluating if profit centers have capitalized on the current economic climate.
  • Assist with identifying trends in financial performance and providing recommendations for improvement considering the performance of key competitors.
  • Analyse current and past financial data and performance.
  • Prepare financial models and projections based on this analysis.
  • Forecast future revenues and expenditures to establish cost structures and determine capital budgeting for projects.
  • Coordinating with other members of the finance team to review financial information and forecasts.
  • Create detailed business analyses, outlining problems, opportunities, and solutions.
  • Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and dashboards.
  • Driving fresh initiatives for financial planning and business intelligence systems.
  • Develop and maintain a strong, motivated, and skilled team to meet the challenging needs of the business, ensuring that appropriate career guidance and training is provided.
  • Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

 

What do you need?

 

  • Bsc. in Accounting/Finance, or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution or ACCA Level 3
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Statistics.
  • Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • High proficiency in financial modeling techniques.
  • Strong technological, analytical and data gathering skills.
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work independently.
  • Experience working with and presenting to senior executives.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Good business acumen.
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Knowledge of stated policies & procedures.
  • Knowledge of the company’s products, services, and operations.
  • Knowledge of any relevant regulatory requirements and applicable tax law.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
