Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Client Data Management (Insurance Operation Services) team in the capacity of:
Assistant Manager - Data Operations
(Grade 3)
Daily management of client data for Sagicor Life Jamaica, Cayman, Barbados and Pan-America with direct oversight of data registry, card operations, provider services, data analytics, and general data processing operations.
Plan, coordinate and execute strategies and activities to maintain high standards of service for data handling and archiving, to achieve compliance with regulatory standards and company policies, and that the company's goals and objectives are met.
Assist with the review of data and audit of data management procedures to eliminate data errors, privacy breaches in accordance with regulatory standards and company policies.

As an Assistant Manager - Data Operations, you will:
- Oversee the daily administrative activities of the data registry and data processing operations of the unit to ensure that productivity targets are achieved and service standards are maintained.
- Assist the manager in the development and implementation of comprehensive data management strategies and plans for the unit to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of client data.
- In collaboration with the manager, utilise the data quality index tool to track the data quality of the KYC data in Sagicor Life and make recommendations to address the gaps.
- Assist with the monitoring and implementation of control mechanisms for agreed quality standards in Sagicor Life and assist with formulating strategies to address the gaps.
- Conduct on-going data quality assurance to facilitate reporting accuracy, identify system anomalies and meet both internal and regulatory standards.
- Assess, analyse and in collaboration with the manager, effect changes, as necessary, to administrative processes and procedures to ensure consistency with established standards and regulations, improve operational efficiencies and ensure quality standards are achieved within the unit.
- Participate in projects/initiatives to extend/improve the use of electronic means in the conduct of business as well as the implementation of new application software to improve inefficiencies.
- Assist in managing Human Resource procedures within the unit, including employee recruitment and separation, training, performance evaluation and retention strategies.
- Assist with the monitoring and maintenance of the Provider Access System.
- Review processes to ensure benchmarks for provider practices and dispensing of prescription drugs and medications are maintained.
- Prepare monthly and ad hoc business and administrative reports and submit them to the manager as required. Incorporate data from weekly individual team member reports and highlight important service issues/trends.
- Assist with the conduct of bi-monthly departmental meetings; and conduct meetings as assigned.
- Assist in preparing the unit’s annual budget for review and submit requests to the manager for capital and recurring expenditure in line with the approved budget.
- Represent the unit or company at meetings, on various committees/working groups or representative bodies as required
- Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Management, Management Studies, Business Administration, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Professional Certification in Data Management [e.g. CDMP] or related fields are highly desirable.
- Fellow, Life Management Institute, Health (FLMI) Insurance Associate or Associate Customer Service (ACS) designation.
- Three (3) years’ working experience in data management, data analytics or a related field, at the middle management or supervisory level in the finance industry, preferably the operations division of a life or health insurance company.
- Excellent knowledge of local Data Privacy legislation.
- Excellent organisational, leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills, with the ability to communicate technical or complex data concepts/information clearly and persuasively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM software, data processing and management software, tools and/or technology systems and databases.
- Excellent analytical/problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Sound knowledge of data protection laws and compliance requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of data governance, data quality management, and data lifecycle processes.
- In-depth knowledge of Group Life and Health portfolio management, Individual Life and Health Insurance policy contracts as well at Provider services portfolio.
- High level of integrity.
- Sound knowledge of business laws and regulations in the insurance industry.
- Ability to handle customer complaints and resolve issues effectively.
- Sound knowledge of insurance products, processes, and procedures.
- Sound knowledge of Customer Relations principles, with an excellent attitude to client service.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Working knowledge of basic accounting and budgeting principles.
- Sound knowledge of industrial relations practices.
- Strong operations management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of data management regulations and standards.
