Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Group Treasury & Asset Management team in the capacity of:
Assistant Manager – Asset Management (Pension Funds)
Assist in achieving the strategic revenue objectives for Group Treasury and Asset Management with regards to Sagicor’s off-balance sheet managed pension funds as well as discretionary portfolios.
Analyse specific investments to evaluate objectively from a market and financial standpoint in order to make appropriate recommendations.
Actively recommend investments with regards to assets held in the portfolio within policy guidelines.
As Assistant Manager – Asset Management (Pension Funds), you will:
- Develop and implement investment strategies including recommendations on security selection and asset allocation driven by thorough research to ensure out-performance of internal and external benchmarks.
- Manage day-to-day portfolio trading in line with investment strategies, objectives, limits, guidelines and risk management as outlined in the Investment Policy Statement.
- Conduct performance analysis aimed at assessing the quality of the investment approach.
- Perform assessments on key aspects of the portfolios including, but not limited to, attribution, concentration, liquidity, foreign currency limits, interest rates, volatility and duration ensuring that portfolios are aligned to their strategic mandates and their constitutive documents.
- Develop strategic initiatives related to portfolios under management aimed at identifying key products and opportunities for presentation to clients.
- Assist with the review and update of the Funds Investment policy.
- Prepare Fund Statistics reports outlining key characteristics of each PIF portfolio.
- Prepare economic review, fund statistics, chairman’s message, performance overview and supporting data for PIF Annual report.
- Prepare monthly PIF performance & strategy updates for EBA-Pension Investments Team.
- Prepare investment reports that allow for assessment of key risks in the portfolio: namely Concentration; Liquidity; Interest Rate; Inflation; Duration Market as well as FX Limits.
- Conduct competitor performance analysis where information is made available particularly of co-fund managers.
- Develop strategic initiatives related to portfolios under management aimed at identifying key products and opportunities for presentation to clients aimed at garnering increased investments from pension funds.
- Generate ideas to garner increased investments from corporate, institutional and new investors via SIJL.
- Provide periodic recommendations for use by various stakeholders.
- Attend client meetings as required to discuss portfolio management and performance.
- Work on project teams for the creation or closure of new/existing portfolios as well as strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing processes and procedures used for the effective management and reporting of the funds.
- Perform any other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or a related field from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Two (2) years’ working experience in bond, equity, money and currency trading and portfolio management.
- Ability to carry out thorough analyses.
- Ability to build and maintain good relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to complete multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal.
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Sound presentation skills.
- Sound knowledge of computer software packages such as word processing and spreadsheet applications.
