Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join Group Treasury & Asset Management team in the capacity of:

 

 

Assistant Manager – Asset Management (Off- Balance Sheet)

 

Manage portfolios through ongoing market monitoring, portfolio evaluation and strategic investment decision-making to optimize returns while mitigating risk.

 

Leverages data-driven insights to support disciplined investment decisions and portfolio performance.

 

 

Location: Kingston

 

As an Assistant Manager – Asset Management (Off- Balance Sheet), you will:

 

  • Monitor portfolio performance across asset classes, tracking returns relative to benchmarks and strategic targets.
  • Compare actual vs expected outcomes to refine investment strategy and improve decision making accuracy.
  • Conduct performance attribution analysis to identify key drivers of returns including asset allocation, security selection, market effects.
  • Conduct impact analysis to assess effect of investment decisions, market movements and portfolio adjustments on overall performance.
  • Execute portfolio rebalancing and tactical adjustments based on data-driven insights and approved investment strategies.
  • Manage day-to-day portfolio trading (purchase and disposal of securities) in line with investment strategies, objectives, limits, guidelines and risk management as outlined in the Investment Policy Statement.
  • Develop strategic initiatives related to portfolios under management aimed at identifying key products and opportunities for presentation to clients.
  • Conduct risk analytics including tracking volatility, drawdown, concentration risk and sensitivity to market factors.
  • Perform stress testing and scenario analysis to assess portfolio resilience under adverse market conditions (e.g., interest rate shocks, market downturns, liquidity constraints).
  • Support ongoing compliance monitoring, ensuring adherence to regulatory frameworks and fund-specific mandates.
  • Develop strategic initiatives related to portfolios under management aimed at identifying key products and opportunities for presentation to clients aimed at garnering increased investments from pension funds.
  • Perform any other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

 

What do you need?

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • At least 1-3 years’ experience in portfolio management, investment analysis, trading, or a related financial/investment role.
  • Strong foundation in financial analysis, valuation techniques and portfolio performance management.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis tools and platforms such as Excel (advanced), Bloomberg or similar platforms.
  • Completion, progress towards or interest in professional certifications such as CFA, FMVA, etc. is an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Ability to think critically and logically.
  • Ability to carry out thorough analyses.
  • Ability to build and maintain good relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to complete multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Sound presentation skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
