Position Summary

Strategic operational leader who combines business thinking with hands-on problem-solving to manage comprehensive marina operations. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in both strategic planning and practical implementation, responsible for team leadership, safety compliance, tenant relations, and driving operational excellence in a dynamic marine environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Operations Management

  • Oversee all marina facilities including docks, boat lifts, fuel systems, and marine infrastructure
  • Drive operational efficiency and implement process improvements across all departments
  • Develop and execute operational strategies that support business growth and customer satisfaction
  • Manage equipment inventory, maintenance scheduling, and lifecycle planning

Team Leadership & Development

  • Directly supervise maintenance department (mechanics) and electrical department staff
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coordinate training programs, and manage work schedules
  • Collaborate with Yard Manager and Marina Supervisor on daily operations and strategic initiatives
  • Build strong vendor relationships and oversee contractor performance
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement

Customer Relations & Business Development

  • Serve as primary liaison for marina tenants regarding services, maintenance, and lease matters
  • Handle tenant concerns, dispute resolution, and develop retention strategies
  • Coordinate premium services for transient boaters and guest vessels

Safety & Compliance Leadership

  • Conduct safety audits, incident investigations, and coordinate emergency response
  • Maintain environmental compliance and ensure all regulatory reporting requirements are met
  • Develop and implement safety protocols for equipment operation and waterfront activities
  • Ensure proper documentation for inspections, certifications, and regulatory compliance

Technical Operations Oversight

  • Monitor marina utilities including water systems, electrical pedestals, and pump-out stations
  • Oversee fuel dock operations and environmental management systems
  • Manage marina security systems, access controls, and facility maintenance
  • Coordinate equipment inspections and certifications required by maritime authorities
  • Oversee workshop operations including specialized tools and equipment maintenance

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience (Flexible Pathways)

  • Traditional Path: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Management, Marine Technology, or related field
  • Experience Path: 5-7 years progressive experience in operations management, facilities management, manufacturing, utilities, or related technical industries

Core Competencies

  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated success managing teams, preferably in technical or maintenance environments
  • Technical Aptitude: Comfortable learning and working with mechanical, electrical, or technical systems (marine experience helpful but not required)
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of operations management, customer service, and process improvement
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication for diverse audiences from technical staff to executive leadership
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with ability to troubleshoot complex operational challenges

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA safety certifications (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience with facilities management, utilities, manufacturing, or technical operations
  • Background in customer service or tenant relations
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance in any technical industry

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Marine environment with outdoor work in Caribbean climate conditions
  • On-call availability for emergencies and peak operational periods
  • Physical requirements include walking docks, climbing equipment, and working around boats and marine equipment
  • Mix of office work (planning, administration) and hands-on operational activities
  • Occasional weekend and holiday work during peak seasons
