This role will support the Director of Finance in overseeing all aspects of the finance department while identifying opportunities to increase revenue and maximize the profitability of the hotel.

Position Responsibilities/ Essential Functions

  • Prepare and review journal entries, month-end reports cash flow, and reconciliations
  • Participate in monthly financial reviews and review preliminary financial statements with the Director of Finance
  • Review and approve monthly and fortnightly payroll
  • Assist in overseeing hotel on-site Finance functions to ensure proper fiscal management, timely and accurate reporting, and analysis for the hotel. This responsibility also includes hotel financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and cash management.
  • Supervise Finance staff including coaching and counseling colleagues to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures. 
  • Systems administration, G/L account reconciliations, budget preparations, inventories, monthly closings, internal audit, AML, general compliance, and full P&L responsibility.
  • Assist with managing and ensuring SOX, GAAP, PCI, and other compliance standards.
  • Assist with completing the year-end audit process. Review and approve all reconciliations and audit work papers. Participate in and respond to auditor requests to ensure total hotel compliance.
  • Help prepare all monthly and annual financial statements. Investigate, review, and analyze the variance explanations, involving the department heads in this process. Take the initiative to manage troubleshooting for respective cost controls and revenue enhancement
  • Assist the Director of Finance with special reporting and analysis projects.
  • Conduct or ensure all Training and Evaluations are completed as required by Hyatt 

 

Qualifications and requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/ Finance, or relevant combination of qualifications and Experience 
  • 6+ years’ experience in hotel finance, with at least 2 years in a similar role.
  • Prior MICROS, Kronos, Hyperion and Hyatt systems (Opera and PMS), Oracle expertise is desired
  • Demonstrated exepreince with Payroll including knowledge of PAYE and National Insurance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ethical behavior when dealing with sensitive financial information.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to effectively address any issue in collaboration with others as appropriate
  • Ability to proactively identify and prevent potential problems and to take the initiative to resolve issues.
  • Ability to develop presentations and effectively present to all levels of the company, hotels, regional office & owners.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large volumes of complex financial information from many sources and create reports, forecasts, and projections. 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
