Position Summary

The Assistant Dietitian & Operations Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the daily operations of the hospital canteen. This position provides expert dietary guidance and ensures the preparation and service of nutritious, balanced meals. The role supports the Company Dietitian & Unit Manager and is responsible for food safety, staff management, inventory control, and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Company Dietitian to provide seamless patient care and dietary support.

  • Work with the culinary team to create menus that are nutritionally balanced, appealing, and in line with dietary guidelines.

  • Assist in planning and preparing specialized menus for patients with allergies, food intolerances, or other dietary restrictions.

  • Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and adherence to nutritional guidelines to maintain consistent food quality and safety standards.

  • Manage food allergies and sensitivities, ensuring proper labeling and prevention of cross-contamination.

  • Stay current with the latest research in nutrition, dietary science, and government regulations related to hospital food service.

  • Work with the catering team to ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.

  • Train and supervise kitchen staff on proper food handling and nutritional standards.

  • Schedule and manage kitchen staff to ensure efficient and safe food preparation and service.

  • Maintain accurate records of food and supply orders; liaise with suppliers for timely and cost-effective deliveries.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and address performance issues.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and strategies to optimize financial performance.

  • Conduct regular quality assessments and food tastings to ensure high standards.

  • Address customer feedback or complaints promptly and professionally.

  • Foster a positive and productive working environment.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.

  • Registered Dietitian or Assistant Dietitian credential.

  • Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is preferred.

  • Experience in menu planning, nutritional analysis, and inventory management is an asset.

  • Strong knowledge of nutrition principles, dietary guidelines, and medical nutrition therapy.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
