General Assistant Accountant will support the daily accounting operations of our dealership and auto parts division.

 

Job Summary:

General Assistant Accountant support the daily accounting operations of our dealership and auto parts division. The position plays a vital role in maintaining the accuracy of our financial records, with a specific focus on inventory accounting (parts and vehicles), accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations. The ideal candidate has a foundational understanding of GAAP and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven automotive environment

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Review Daily Sales and Collection Reconciliation
  2. Review daily bank deposit
  3. Verify completeness of cash register transfers received in the Accounting System
  4. Post daily bank deposit journals
  5. Review payment vouchers created and processed by Accounts Clerk which include verification of financial documents, supports, and invoices prior to payment processing
  6. Review and monitor customers’ accounts receivable reports for Vehicles, Parts, and Service
  7. Review and endorse completed Charge Account Application forms to the Accounts Manager for review and approval.
  8. Monitor and update approved customer charge account credit limit upon request
  9. Review completeness and accuracy of parts shipment invoices entered in the system
  10. Monitor service warranty receivables
  11. Manage & maintain Accruals and Prepayments schedules
  12. Manage fixed asset register and depreciation schedule
  13. Perform monthly bank reconciliation for multiple operating accounts
  14. Review monthly credit card reconciliation
  15. Coordinate with the bank regarding matters such as change orders, returned cheques, and other banking concerns
  16. Processing monthly payment to supplier
  17. Monthly Reconciliation of suspense account and related party transaction accounts
  18. Assist in facilitating inventory count both for Tortola and VG part store
  19. Identify and recommend improvements to accounting procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  20. Collaborate with the Parts and Service managers to ensure proper documentation for parts usage and service repairs.
  21. Provides professional support in all projects and activities of the accounting department.
  22. Any other tasks that may be assigned by the Accountant or Management

Qualifications & experience:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or with equivalent certification (e.g. ACCA) is required
  3. Minimum of 3 years relevant Accounting Experience in a supervisory role
  4. Automotive dealership experience is highly preferred
  5. Experience with a Dealership Management System is a significant advantage
  6. Proficient in MS Office Suite, databases and accounting software
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  8. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  9. Knowledgeable with preparation of financial reports and financial accounting statements
  10. Proven work experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  11. Extensive experience in accounts reconciliation
  12. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  13. Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail when working in a fast-paced environment
  14. Strong organizational and time-management skills
  15. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  16. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  17. High ethics, integrity, and professional commitment
