We are looking for a capable Assistant Accountant who will work closely with the Financial Controller, Accountant, and other team members to effectively carry out various accounting responsibilities.

Primary Objective of the job

The Accounting Assistant’s responsibilities include managing expense reports and reimbursements, entering financial transactions into our internal databases and reconciling invoices. Ultimately, you will help our accounting department run smoothly, ensuring transparency and efficiency in all transactions.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Financial Controller, Accountant, and other team members to effectively carry out various accounting responsibilities.

  • Manage company ledgers and process daily financial transactions.

  • Detect discrepancies in ledgers and accounts, tracing them back to their source and rectifying them as needed.

  • Oversee the maintenance of petty cash in the warehouse.

  • Update the company's fixed asset register regularly.

  • Maintain the company's prepaid schedule.

  • Aid in preparing and inputting journal entries.

  • Coordinate and support the monthly stock count activities.

  • Generate costing documents upon the arrival of shipments.

  • Produce daily reports for both management and team members.

  • Any other Accounting duties assigned

 

Academic qualifications and experience required for the job:

• BSc/Ba in Accounting, Finance or relevant field

• 2 years of work experience in accounting

• Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures

 

Functional Skills:

  • Familiarity with the requisite finance regulations
  • Hands-on experience with MS Excel and accounting software ( Sage Accpac)
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Discretion as there will likely be sensitive information and figures discussed.

  • The ability to work to strict time constraints.

  • The ability to prioritise work.

  • An organised and methodical approach to a task.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office is a must.

  • Sage 300 experience will be an asset.
