Assistant Accountant – Inventory

Berger Paints, a well-established paint manufacturing and retail company is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the position of: Assistant Accountant – Inventory

The Assistant Accountant – Inventory supports the accuracy, integrity, and analysis of inventory data and accounting records to enable effective financial reporting, operational insights, and decision‑making. The role focuses on reconciliations, stock controls, inventory analytics support, and audit readiness, under the direction of the Senior Business Analyst.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform monthly reconciliation of inventory sub‑ledgers to the General Ledger and clearing accounts; ensuring all variances are identified, explained, and resolved within approved timelines.
  • Validate inventory transactions for proper classification, cut‑off, and valuation prior to period close.
  • Coordinate and participate in weekly cycle, quarterly and annual physical inventory counts in accordance with Group policy.
  • Investigate physical‑to‑book variances, prepare supporting analysis, and escalate findings with recommended adjustments to the Senior Business Analyst.
  • Maintain proper documentation and approvals for all inventory adjustments. Ensuring all inventory records are audit‑ready and compliant with internal control requirements.
  • Support data accuracy and completeness for inventory‑related analysis, dashboards, and management reporting prepared by the Senior Business Analyst.
  • Monitor slow‑moving, obsolete, or aged inventory and support analysis and reporting thereof.
  • Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required.
  • Participate in the development of and perform all duties in accordance with the procedures set forth in ISO 9001: 2000 standards and the Company’s Quality manual and OSHA standards.
  • Promote safety awareness and the development of a safety culture within the company.
  • Compliance with Ansa Mcal Group Policies.

Formal Education

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Completion of Level 3 ACCA Certification
  • 3 years in a similar position.
