1.   Job SUMMARY:

Provides professional nursing care to patients by working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. Assumes primary responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in accordance with established standards  and hospital policies for medical and surgical patients. Takes charge of ward/department when required. Provides services for on- call after hours.

2.   KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR JOB

Education, Qualification/ Training

Required

  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing, holding a certificate in nursing, with current registration from country of training/origin
  • Evidence of ongoing relevent post graduate education and training
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Ability to communicatie professionally and effectively with patients, families, the public and the members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent oral, written and computer skills, fluent in English

Desired

  • Holder of  Nursing Degree 
  • Holder of Nurse Anesthetist certification
  • Current PALS certification

     Experience

  • Minimum two years recent clinical anesthetic nursing experience.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds. Moving or transferring patients of at least 20 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Fine motor skills
  •  Visual acuity
  • Ability to stoop, stretch, kneel
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals
  • Use of disinfection or sterilizing agents

  • Ability to respond effectively in all emergency situations

 

Preferred

  • Competent in using a computerized patient care information system
  • Awareness and understanding of  quality assurance objectives
