Job Summary

The All-Rounded Science Teacher is responsible for delivering effective instruction in CXC Chemistry and Physics, and supporting lower secondary Integrated Science where required. The teacher will prepare students for CXC examinations, with strong emphasis on practical skills, SBA requirements, scientific inquiry, and real-world application of scientific concepts.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons aligned with the CXC syllabi for Chemistry, Physics, and Integrated Science.
• Teach both theoretical content and practical laboratory components in accordance with CXC standards.
• Prepare, supervise, and assess School-Based Assessments (SBAs), including labs, projects, data analysis, and investigations.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that address CXC learning outcomes, objectives, and profile dimensions.
• Conduct regular assessments using tests, quizzes, practicals, and mock examinations to monitor student progress.
• Provide timely feedback and targeted remediation to improve student performance and examination readiness.
• Ensure proper laboratory safety procedures, accurate use of equipment, and maintenance of lab records.
• Prepare students for CXC external examinations, including exam techniques, structured responses, and practical skills.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, SBA marks, and student progress in accordance with school and CXC requirements.
• Integrate ICT tools, simulations, and hands-on activities to enhance science teaching and learning.
• Promote scientific literacy, critical thinking, problem-solving, and ethical laboratory practices.
• Collaborate with the Science Department to align instruction, share resources, and support curriculum planning.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, parent-teacher conferences, and school activities.
• Maintain a safe, disciplined, and inclusive classroom and laboratory environment.
• Perform any other related duties assigned by the School Manager/Eexcutive Director.
