Airport Cargo Handling Operator

The Airport Cargo Handling Operator is responsible for managing and coordinating the receiving and tendering of shipments at the airport and for ensuring efficient workflow procedures and processes for perishables and general cargo.

The Airport Cargo Handling Operator must be able to communicate effectively with staff, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure a successful operation. The Airport Cargo Handling Operator must have a strong understanding of the airline industry as it relates to cargo acceptance, tendering and security of cargo and be able to problem-solve quickly and efficiently.

Job Duties:

• Receiving all goods for exports, including labelling and offloading cargo for tendering to airlines, while complying with all standard operating procedures specific to the airline industry.
• Submission of all export documents, including, but not limited to, airwaybills, airline acceptance and security forms.
• Vetting of all documents relevant to cargo shipments.
• Monitoring of all export licences and notifying all shippers/brokers prior to expiration.
• Liaising with ground handling agents for airlines and customs officers to ensure timely offloading and tendering of shipments.
• Ensuring all shipping bills are submitted to customs officials for approval and signoff.
• Ensuring all HSSE protocols are followed.
• Tracking overtime for all drivers and airport staff.
• Training of personnel as required.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

 Requirements:

• A valid Police Certificate of Good Character or receipt of application
• Five (5) CSEC passes inclusive of Mathematics and English.
• Ability to perform physical activities including lifting and bending.
• Heavy-T license (Class 4) would be preferred.
• Ability to drive a forklift would be an asset.
• Ability to work flexible working hours including weekends and public holidays.
