Air Traffic Controller

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Air Traffic Controller at the Grenada Airports Authority. 

General Accountability 

The successful candidate will report to the Air Traffic Services Manager and will monitor and manage Grenada’s airspace and activities in the aerodrome. He/she will monitor the functioning of all air traffic control equipment and ensures complete adherence to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) STANDARDS AND RECOMMENDED PRACTICES. 

Essential Duties

  • Monitors and manages Grenada’s airspace.
  • Maintains separation of aircrafts operating within the area of responsibility by issuing air traffic control clearances
  • Provides aerodrome, approach and ground control services to aircrafts oerating within the Terminal Control Area by directing pilots on start-up, taxi, take-off, climb descent and landing of aircrafts
  • Provides advise to adjacent control units of light routing through airspace under their control and transmits instructions and information from the adjacent control units to such aircrafts operating within the Maurice Bishop International Airport Terminal Control Area.
  • Monitors activities in the aerodrome to ensure safety and efficiency of operations.
  •   Monitors the functioning of all air traffic control equipment and air traffic control communications
  • Collaborates with and assists other Air Traffic Services staff. 

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Diploma in Aerodrome and Approach Control from an International Civil Aviation Accredited Institution.
  • At least one (1) year working experience as an Air Traffic Controller. 

Specific Skills and/or Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the rules of the Air Traffic Services (ICAO)
  • Knowledge of the Aviation Manual of Operations (local procedures)
  • Knowledge of identification and classification of risks to aircraft during flight operations
  • Skills in plotting of weather systems and aircraft routes on charts
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Sound decision-making skills
  • Keen observational skills
