ATC Trainee

The Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority (TTCAA) is mandated to regulate and administer a safe civil aviation system whilst ensuring that Trinidad and Tobago properly discharges its obligations under international civil aviation agreements and treaties.  The TTCAA is seeking to recruit suitably qualified persons for the following contract position:

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL (ATC) TRAINEE

The ATC Trainee will undergo training in accordance with the approved Aerodrome Unit Training Plan to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities and to demonstrate the required competence to be issued an Air Traffic Control Licence with the Aerodrome Control Instrument Rating.

Successful acquisition of the Air Traffic Control Licence may render the incumbent eligible for appointment as an Air Traffic Controller A to provide air traffic control services at either the Piarco Control Tower (Trinidad) or the ANR Robinson Control Tower (Tobago) as organizational needs dictate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Attend all scheduled training sessions.
• Achieve the standards of performance set out in the Aerodrome Unit Training Plan.
• Successfully complete the training within the stipulated timeframe
• Maintain a valid Air Traffic Control Trainee Licence.
• Provide air traffic control services under supervisory conditions specified by the Director-General of Civil Aviation or his designate.

 QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Diploma in Air Traffic Control.
• Holder of a valid Class Three (3) Aviation Medical Certificate, issued by an Aviation Medical Examiner.
• Eligible to hold an Air Traffic Control Trainee License.
• A minimum of five (5) CSEC, CXC or GCE O’ Level subjects, Grades I or II, which must include English Language and Mathematics.
• Possess good interpersonal and communication skills with clear, fluent speech and a demonstrable ability to use the English Language at ICAO Level 6 proficiency.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS:

• Applicants must bear the cost of the Class III Medical, to be administered by one of the TTCAA’s authorized Aviation Medical Examiners (AMEs).
• Applicants that possess the required qualifications and experience will be subjected to an aptitude test.  Successful candidates will be shortlisted to be interviewed.
• Candidates who are successful at the interview will be ranked based on interview scores attained and will be subjected to a pre-employment medical, psychometric assessment and a security background investigation.
