The Manager of Local, Regional and International Admissions has the responsibility and is accountable to the University of the Commonwealth Global Campuses Registry and to provide leadership, to plan, organize and manage all activities related.

The UNIVERSITY OF THE COMMONWEALTH CARIBBEAN invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the position of:

Manager Admissions (Local, Regional and International)

The Admissions Manager provides leadership and oversight for the University’s admissions operations, ensuring the effective recruitment, evaluation, and enrolment of qualified students into the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean. The role manages and coordinates direct admissions activities, supervises admissions staff, and ensures the timely and accurate processing of applications in accordance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.

The incumbent supports institutional enrolment goals by monitoring admissions trends, improving admissions processes, and contributing to the development of admissions policies and procedures. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, the Admissions Manager ensures high-quality service delivery and compliance with standards established by the University Council of Jamaica.

Key Responsibilities (Includes but is not limited to the following)

Leadership and Strategic Planning

  • Provide strategic leadership for the University’s admissions operations and direct admissions functions.
  • Develop and implement admissions strategies aligned with institutional enrolment goals.
  • Monitor application and enrolment trends and recommend strategies to increase recruitment and retention.
  • Provide recommendations to senior leadership regarding admissions policies, targets, and capacity planning.
  • Assist in the development and continuous improvement of admissions policies, procedures, and business processes, including process re-engineering to improve efficiency.

Admissions Operations and Decision-Making

  • Manage the full admissions process from application receipt to enrolment confirmation.
  • Evaluate applicant records, including academic transcripts and standardized test scores, in accordance with established admissions guidelines.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of applications and admissions decisions.
  • Oversee the issuance of acceptance letters, conditional offers, and other admissions communications.
  • Ensure consistency, transparency, and fairness in admissions decision-making across all programmes.

Staff Management and Development

  • Lead and supervise the Admissions Unit, including Senior Admissions Officers and other admissions staff.
  • Assign responsibilities, monitor workloads, and manage staff performance.
  • Provide coaching, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Conduct staff evaluations and ensure adequate staffing during peak application periods.

Recruitment and Outreach

  • Represent the University at education fairs, school visits, community colleges, high schools, and outreach events.
  • Deliver presentations and provide information on admissions requirements, academic programmes, financial aid, and student life.
  • Assist in the development of marketing and recruitment initiatives that enhance institutional visibility.
  • Support the creation and promotion of scholarships and initiatives that encourage student recruitment and access.

Systems, Data Management, and Reporting

  • Oversee the administration and development of systems associated with direct admissions, including the Student Management System (SMS) and admissions databases.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and effective management of applicant data.
  • Support the integration and use of applicant communication systems where applicable.
  • Monitor admissions performance metrics such as application volumes, acceptance rates, conversion rates, yield rates, and enrolment figures.
  • Coordinate the compilation of information for institutional reports and external surveys required by national agencies.

Compliance, Collaboration, and Institutional Coordination

  • Ensure admissions practices comply with institutional policies and national regulatory standards, including requirements of the University Council of Jamaica.
  • Collaborate with Recruitment, Marketing, Academic Affairs, Registry, Finance, and Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) to support efficient admissions operations.
  • Coordinate with programme coordinators and faculty to confirm admissions requirements and programme capacity.
  • Support the transition of admitted students into registration and enrolment processes.

Other Duties

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of tertiary admissions processes and academic programme requirements.
  • Knowledge of enrolment management and recruitment strategies.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in interpreting policies and procedures, delegating responsibilities and evaluating administrative activities and the performance of subordinates.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Apply initiative and judgment to solve customer service and operational challenges with sensitivity, balance, flexibility and timeliness.
  • Effective change management competence.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, Management, Business Administration or any related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ managerial experience in related activities at a managerial level.
  • Successful leadership and management track record in a people-oriented environment.
